Tech moguls Tom and Patricia Kennedy sold their waterfront Venetian Islands mansion for $46 million, making it the most expensive home ever sold in the Miami Beach neighborhood.
Records show the Kennedys’ 55 E San Marino Dr LLC, a Florida entity, sold the mansion at 55 East San Marino Drive to Hibiscus East LLC, a Delaware company. The true buyer is hidden.
Dina Goldentayer with Douglas Elliman had the listing, and Joel Lusky and Zalmy Shapiro with the Brokerage South Florida Real Estate brought the buyer.
The Kennedys founded custom app builder Zudy, which they sold to Alameda-based Jitterbit for an undisclosed amount in 2023, according to published reports. Previously, they co-founded BackOffice Associates, which specialized in data migration and management. They sold it for $340 million to Goldman Sachs in 2012, according to the Cape Cod Times.
The couple bought the half-acre waterfront San Marino Island property for $21.5 million in 2022. At the time, it was a partially completed shell for a planned 10,500-square-foot mansion. They completed a 9,700-square-foot mansion this year, according to the listing. It has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, one half-bathroom, a pool and 160 feet of waterfront, the listing shows.
The Kennedys listed the mansion for $48.5 million in March, according to Realtor.com. The deal marks a price record for Venetian Islands.
The islands have attracted a number of high-profile homeowners, including WhatsApp investor Jim Goetz, and PayPal Mafia members Keith Rabois and Peter Thiel. Thiel is building a 6,800-square-foot waterfront home on Rivo Alto Island.
More recently, in March, venture capital boss Amit Raizada sold a waterfront spec home for $19.2 million. In February, hospitality mogul Nick Patel bought a waterfront spec home from developer Pascal Nicolai for $19.4 million. Also in February, Daniel Lewis, an heir to the Progressive insurance fortune, sold a waterfront spec home for $19.5 million.
