Compass continued its rapid growth to Florida’s Treasure Coast with the addition of a 15-agent team in Stuart.
The New York-based brokerage, headed by CEO Robert Reffkin, brought in the New Wave Group, according to a press release. Led by Sara Crombie, the team is Compass’ first in the Treasure Coast region, the release shows. The team specializes in luxury residential properties in Martin, Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties.
New Wave has closed more than $500 million in sales, according to the release. Its agents include Catherine Hudzina, Dana Netska, Ellen Pentland, Gayle Sokoloff, Genece Singer, Jake Newman, Jennifer Heins, Judy Cialone, Laura Trombetta, Mike Davis, Nina Blum, Susan Freytes, Susan Slutsky and Will Gluckman, its website shows.
In the years since the pandemic inspired an unprecedented wealth migration to Florida and fueled market booms across the state, brokerages have moved to expand their territory in the Sunshine State. Last year, the Keyes Company added a 24-agent brokerage in the Treasure Coast’s Fort Pierce.
Compass is a giant in the real estate brokerage industry, with more than 33,000 agents across the country, and it’s been spending millions of dollars on mergers and acquisitions. While New Wave marks Compass’ first Treasure Coast addition, the brokerage has been adding headcount in other Florida markets. In 2022, it added a 20-agent team in the Panhandle’s 30A region, RealTrends reported. In March, it opened an office in Downtown Naples for 300 agents and staff, according to a press release. In July, the 40-agent Korman Group joined Compass in its Boca Raton office.
In addition to its expansion efforts, Compass is also driving a national battle over how homes are marketed and sold. The brokerage is suing listing site Zillow over its private listings policies, and in July announced it was ditching the National Association of Realtor’s Clear Cooperation Policy.
