Pollster Mark Penn drops $18M on waterfront Pine Tree Drive mansion

11K sf house sold at $5M discount from last asking price

Mark Penn and 5785 Pine Tree Drive

Pollster Mark Penn dropped $17.5 million on a waterfront Miami Beach mansion, a $5 million discount from its last listing price.

Penn and his wife, Nancy Jacobson, bought the house at 5785 Pine Tree Drive from Pinetree Holding Corporation, managed by Mohammad Eleyyan of Staten Island, according to public records.

Andrew Katz with Howard Chase Real Estate represented the buyers, and Albert Justo and Mirce Curkoski with One Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing.

Penn is chairman of the Chicago-based Harris Poll, a partner in the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, and chairman and CEO of the marketing firm Stagwell. He was an advisor to Bill and Hillary Clinton on their campaigns in the 1990s and 2000s, according to published reports.

Eleyyan bought the 0.3-acre Pine Tree Drive property for $1.9 million in 2011, according to property records. He completed the nearly 11,000-square-foot mansion with eight bedrooms, six bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a pool, a dock and 79 feet of waterfront in 2023, the listing shows. The home sold fully furnished, according to the listing.

Eleyyan first listed the mansion for $22.9 million in 2021, before bumping the price up to $24.9 million in 2022, and bringing it down to $22.5 million last year, according to Zillow.

It marks the latest pricey deal on one of the coveted waterfront streets in Miami Beach. In December, billionaire Teddy Sagi bought a Pine Tree Drive teardown for $23.8 million.

In August, Richard Schulze, the billionaire founder of Best Buy, was linked to the $27 million purchase of a waterfront spec home on the Venetian Islands. On North Bay Road in Miami Beach, Russell Weiner, the billionaire founder of Rockstar Energy, found a buyer for his waterfront home asking $32.5 million. Weiner also owns a sprawling compound on Pine Tree Drive. He is currently suing his general contractor for that estate, alleging defective work that lacked the proper approvals and permits.
