A landmarked Palm Beach mansion, fresh off an extensive renovation, is angling for one of the priciest residential sales in the country.
Casa del Ensuenos, a 1923 Venetian-style estate at 800 South County Road, hit the market asking $175 million, the Palm Beach Post reported. The 1.5-acre Intracoastal Waterway property has 200 feet of waterfront and sits just north of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club, in one of Palm Beach’s most exclusive corridors.
Designed by Addison Mizner, the society architect who shaped Palm Beach’s Mediterranean Revival identity, the estate is one of just two Venetian-style mansions he built in town. Palm Beach designated the property a landmark in 1980.
Viewed from the lake, portions of the house appear to rise directly from the seawall — a design feature that became a liability as tides crept higher.
Businesswoman Ann DesRuisseaux bought the estate for a recorded $24 million in 2020 and launched an intense restoration and elevation project after repeated flooding from the Lake Worth Lagoon.
Saltwater inundated the first floor during king tides and major storms, and the property depended on a pumping system with a maze of drains.
How much DesRuisseaux spent on the renovation remains unclear, but it’s been described as in the millions.
It required multiple Town Council hearings before approval was granted to raise and restore the structure. The project has since become a high-profile example of how Palm Beach’s ultra-luxury estates are adapting to rising sea levels.
The estate spans 27,000 square feet of living space, including 21,500 square feet of air-conditioned interiors, with 15 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms and five half-bathrooms, according to the listing.
Architectural features include a half-round stair tower, lakefront balconies, cast-stone detailing and a courtyard archway that once served as a yacht entrance.
Premier Estate Properties’ Margit Brandt has the listing. The broker described the home to the outlet as “one-of-one” and “one of the most iconic renovations in Palm Beach history.”
Palm Beach’s most expensive listing is a North End oceanfront estate, which hit the market last month asking $205 million.
Florida — and the United States — saw a new record home sale last year, when the billionaire DeGroote family sold their waterfront Naples estate for $225 million in April.
