The Corcoran Group named Mercedes Saewitz as its regional vice president for Florida, The Real Deal has learned.
Corcoran’s Pam Liebman tapped Saewitz, a Miami native with more than 25 years of industry experience, to head the Miami Beach and Surfside offices, according to a news release. She’ll also be supporting Corcoran’s other Florida offices, which include Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Hobe Sound, 30A, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and Panama City locations.
It marks the latest shakeup in South Florida leadership following the Compass-Anywhere Real Estate merger that brought the boutique brokerage under the purview of Robert Reffkin’s real estate empire. Last month, Compass’ longtime regional vice president for Florida, Jeff Polashuk, exited the brokerage to join the wealth management firm Gideon Strategic Partners.
Saewitz founded the real estate brokerage M Realty in 2003. After selling the business in 2007, she joined One Sotheby’s International Realty before joining Compass as a founding agent in its Miami office in 2015.
Over 10 years with Compass, she rose to the role of principal broker of Florida and as the national head representative of brokers, reporting to Reffkin on national broker-focused initiatives. She left last year to work as senior vice president of operations at Aperture Global Real Estate. Then she got a call from Liebman this winter.
“When you get a call from Pam Liebman, it’s sort of a career-defining moment,” she said. “She’s someone you don’t say no to.”
Saewitz said she is focused on agent experience and support in her new role. She hopes to rapidly expand the firm’s agent base in the state.
“I’d love to see Corcoran double agent count in a year,” she said.
Asked about expanding to new markets, Saewitz said it would depend on where the brokerage’s leadership saw opportunity. But, she said, “I have a lot of dream-bigs.”
