Debuys Property Investment Group is planning to build a massive development of single- and multi-family homes, park land and commercial space on a swath of the 1,900 acres in Parkland known as the Wedge, the Sun Sentinel reported.

Parkland city commissioners approved the plan, and a rezoning of the land necessary for the commercial development. The Wedge, located at the northwest corner of County Line Road and the proposed extension of University Drive, was part of Palm Beach County until 2009 when a boundary change transferred it to Broward County.

The developers plan for more than eight and a half acres of space for 526 single-family homes and more than three acres for 250 multi-family homes. Debuys will also set aside 77 acres for public parks and space for school as the development would significantly increase the city’s population.

The city commissioners agreed this plan was much more appropriate for the area, than a previous proposal for 2,000 to 3,000 multi-family units, the Sun Sentinel said. [Sun Sentinel]
