Canadians now eyeing Fort Lauderdale real estate

Our gentle neighbors to the north have always taken a shine to the sunshine state, but these days, with their dollar outperforming our own, Canadians have more reasons than just the weather to invest in a home in Fort Lauderdale, World Property Channel reported.

As The Real Deal previously noted, Canadians are also the largest foreign buyers percentage-wise in Florida as a whole.

But now the snowbirds are looking past Miami, it seems.

Michelle Farber Ross, managing partner at MMD Realty in Fort Lauderdale, said 90 percent of her current clientele is Canadian.

“We have the perfect storm for Canadian buyers and investors,” Farber Ross said. “Low purchase prices, great currency exchange and an incredibly strong rental market.” [World Property Channel]
