Lincoln Road expansion, Miami Beach convention center overhaul head to vote

Two high-profile South Beach development projects, an expansion of Lincoln Road and a renovation of the Miami Beach Convention Center, will soon go before Miami Beach’s commissioners for initial votes, the Miami Herald reported. The Lincoln Road project would create retail centers on parking lots near the pedestrian mall in South Beach. Meanwhile, the plan to overhaul the Miami Beach Convention Center, includes bids by two teams: one, between developer Robert Wennett and Tishman Hotel and Realty, and a second, which is being promoted by Atlanta’s Portman Holdings and Miami’s Ugo Colombo. Several other groups submitted bids which did not make the final cut. “The project is the most exciting and ambitious redevelopment in the Southeastern United States of this decade,” said Portman-CMC, the name of the collaboration.
