Fewer New Yorkers heading to Florida

The number of New Yorkers who moved to Florida in the last five years dropped by 34,000 people, or almost 50 percent, compared to the previous five years, according to a report from the Associated Press. That’s a reversal of the so-called “9-11 effect,” which saw the Sunshine State become a magnet for New Yorkers and other northerners in the time period. The data was based on the number of applications for new driver’s licenses in Florida.
