Miami’s famed Deauville Beach Resort — known for hosting the Beatles — is seeking permission to add a new 21-story tower, according to Curbed. The owners have asked the Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board to discuss the issue at their November 20th meeting. If built, the tower would rise above the hotel’s current ballroom and pool area.

During the housing boom a new residential tower had been approved and the new proposal seems to be a modification of  Kobi Karp’s original designs, according to Curbed.

The building was originally designed by architect Melvin Grossman in 1957 and nearly shut down in 2010 when the city found more than 100 building and fire code violations. [Curbed]Christopher Cameron
