Lennar tops list of SoFla residential developers

Miami-based Lennar Corp. topped a list of South Florida residential real estate developers ranked by the South Florida Business Journal.

The company earned the top spot based on its 1,267 South Florida closings (single-family homes and townhomes) in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2013, according to the Journal.

Sunrise-based G.L. Homes came in second with 505 closings.

Newcomers to the list include Label & Co. Developments, Pulte Homes, Shiff Group Holdings and Shoma Development Corp., which is developing a complex of 150 $1 million-homes in Doral.

The homes range in price from $90,000 for a Palm Beach Gardens-based Schickedanz home to WCI Communities, a Bonita Springs-based developer’s, $6.9 million home, according to the list. [SFBJ] — Emily Schmall
