Waterfront developments popping up in Fort Lauderdale

Rising rents and strong demand have developers setting their sights on downtown Fort Lauderdale’s riverfront, and a slew of new luxury projects prove it.

Returning for the first time since building La Rive downtown in 2005, Premier Developers plans to demolish the old Sunrise Hall East motel and replace it with a 100-unit condo development. The project boasts a private pontoon water taxi, dock, and boat slips.

The New River Yacht Club at 400 SW First Ave., which sat vacant before Related started its $75 million development in 2012, is scheduled to be completed in July and will help finish the construction on the south side of the Riverwalk. A mixed-use complex with residences, retail, restaurants and marina is also in the works through Miami-based Cymbal Development.
