Professional football player and Fort Lauderdale native Asante Samuel wants nearly $13 million for his massive home in Broward County’s Southwest Ranches.

The free agent defensive back finished building the nine-bedroom, 13-bathroom mansion at 5300 Ascot Terrace last year. Samuel paid about $2.4 million for the nearly five-acre property in June 2008.

Coral Gables-based Ofra Chanti and Adrienne Gershon of ONE Sotheby’s International Realty are the listing agents for the more than 25,000-square-foot home in the Landmark Ranch Estates neighborhood.

The property includes a 140,000-gallon swimming pool equipped with a waterfall, LED lights and a swim-in grotto with two underwater televisions. A second floor includes a rock slide, fire pit and Jacuzzi. Chanti and Gershon are calling the structure “Pool Mansion” and have a pending trademark for the phrase.

A two-time Super Bowl winner with the New England Patriots, Samuel most recently played for the Atlanta Falcons. He was born in Fort Lauderdale and played high school football there. — Eric Kalis
