Magglio Ordonez looks to sell Fort Lauderdale home

Retired slugger Magglio Ordonez wants to sell his Fort Lauderdale home for about the same price he paid for the property 10 years ago.

The Venezuelan right fielder listed the 181 Nurmi Drive residence with a $4.39 million asking price, according to Tuesday’s written statement from Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, which is handling the listing. Ordonez and his wife Dagly spent $4.4 million to acquire the Nurmi Isles property in November 2004 and constructed the house the following year. The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home has more than 9,900 square feet of living space.

Features include a gourmet chef’s kitchen, bar, spa, office and an elevator. The property includes a pool, summer kitchen, and enough dockage to accommodate an 80-foot yacht.

Coldwell sales associate Giselle Bonetti is the listing agent.

“The luxury home market, within the $3 million to $5 million range, has been very strong this last quarter,” Bonetti said. “This new listing further strengthens the marketplace and relationships with my Major League Baseball clientele.”

Ordonez played for the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers during a 15-year MLB career. He was elected mayor of Sotillo, Venezuela in December 2013. — Eric Kalis
