Coldwell Banker’s Thomsons gear up for “Amazing Race”

As South Florida real estate agents, the Thomson sisters are no strangers to competition.

Lisa, 28, and Michelle, 22, comprise two-thirds of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate’s Thomson Team, one of the most prolific broker teams in Miami-Dade County. The sisters are vying for $1 million as contestants on “The Amazing Race,” which returns Thursday for its 25th season.

“We’re females in our 20s in real estate, so we have a lot to prove,” Lisa told The Real Deal.

The Thomsons – Lisa, Michelle and their mother Jennifer Robin Thomson — specialize in selling single-family homes and condominiums throughout the county, from Miami Beach to Homestead. Last year, they brokered the sale of 237 total units, data shows. So far this year, they have sold 141 units. They said the team has sold more than 2,000 homes to date, making them the No. 1 selling team in southeast Florida for units sold.

For about a month over the summer, they left the real estate world behind to participate in the show. The sisters said they signed a release agreeing not to tell anyone where they were.

“I have been trapped in a Miami office selling everyone else the dream,” Lisa said in her bio on the CBS website. “I want to see all the different cultures, places and learn new things.”

The sisters said they hope to break into the high-end condo market in South Florida – a domain in which their elder colleagues, the Jills team of Jill Hertzberg and Jill Eber at Coldwell Banker, are a major presence. The Jills, who could not be reached for comment, have the highest production on record of any agent team at Coldwell Banker.

Lisa and Jennifer joined Coldwell Banker in 2005, and Michelle came aboard in 2010. From the firm’s Pinecrest office, Lisa focuses on handling listings, while Michelle deals with buyers.
