Donald Trump suing Doral over noise complaints

If he could, the Donald would probably fire the city of Doral.

Trump is reportedly suing the city over its noise ordinance after his resort received more than 100 violations.

Trump National Doral has been accumulating violations since August and most are for “unreasonably loud noise” while mowing grass and doing maintenance work.

Trump’s suit said the city’s noise ordinance is too vague, leaving the city’s code enforcement department to determine if a violation exists, the Miami Herald reported.

Each violation comes with a $1,500 fine, and Trump’s legal team has already reportedly spent $50,000 fighting the complaints.

“This is the finest resort in the world, you have to cut the grass,” Trump told the Herald. “Why is it that we use brand new equipment and get fined, when the people who had the property before me didn’t have any citations? Maybe it’s because I have money.”

City Attorney Daniel Espino responded to the suit in an email on Wednesday.

“Instead of striving to resolve the residents’ noise concerns, the Trump Resort has escalated this situation unnecessarily,” Espino said in his email to the Miami Herald. “Though the City has not been served, I am disappointed that the Resort has filed suit, especially when the City has been working in good faith to protect everyone’s interests. My office intends to defend the City, the Code, and the public welfare. It is, however, my continued hope that the Resort will look to be a good neighbor and resolve this situation amicably.”

Trump purchased the 800-acre Doral country club out of bankruptcy in 2012 for $150 million. He then put $250 millions in renovations into the property and rebranded it Trump National Doral.

This isn’t the first time the resort has received complaints: neighbors complained about Trump surrounding the resort with trees last year, blocking their view of the fairways. [Miami Herald] — Sean Stewart-Muniz
