Put up your dukes, developers: Paramount Miami Worldcenter gets boxing ring

Got a dispute with the Paramount Miami Worldcenter’s condo association? Lace up your gloves and step into the ring.

The pre-construction luxury tower is adding another feature to its long list of amenities: a boxing ring.

It will be part of the tower’s planned nine-acre sports complex on the ninth floor, which already includes an outdoor soccer field, two tennis courts, a pool and a running course. Inside, it will even have a “jam room” with music instruments and a recording studio.

Though the ring won’t be regulation size, Paramount Miami Worldcenter developer Dan Kodsi said that isn’t the point.

“It’s less about getting heavyweight fighters in there and more about it being for exercise,” Kodsi told The Real Deal.

He said with the rising popularity of sports like kickboxing, adding a boxing ring and punching bags to the building’s gym seemed like a perfect fit.

And with what some are calling the “fight of the century” between modern boxing legends Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather just a few days away, he said it was the perfect time to announce the ring.

The clash of titans, scheduled for Saturday, is worth an incredible $300 million. Mayweather and Pacquiao will split the purse 60/40, respectively. Even the referee is walking away $25,000 richer.

The $600 million Paramount Miami Worldcenter will rise 60 stories when completed in late 2018. It is part of the $1.06 billion Miami Worldcenter project, situated on 28 acres near downtown Miami.

The project hosted a party earlier this month as part of its sales gallery launch, where it hung the world’s largest disco ball — 20 feet in diameter — outdoors and hosted more than 1,000 real estate professionals.
