Fort Lauderdale’s most expensive home is on the market, listed for $32 million, The Real Deal has learned.

The Georgian inspired estate, at 1600 Ponce de Leon Drive in the Rio Vista neighborhood, features 500 feet of wide waterfront and two acres of gardens, designed by Raymond Jungles.

DND Associates’ Michelle Sorrentino, Dennis Stevick and Dale Atkins, affiliated with One Sotheby’s International Realty, have the listing.

The 16,022-square-foot mansion has eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms and three half-baths, and was built in 2007, according to the listing.

The property represents the largest parcel of land for a single-family home in the city, Atkins told TRD. Additional features include an office, workshop, wine cellar, elevator, clubroom with bar, six car garage and guest house.

“Not only is it the largest parcel of land on the water, the neighborhood of Rio Vista is considered a downtown neighborhood, close to everything in downtown,” Sorrentino told TRD.

According to Broward property records, the sellers are Donald and Rebecca McKinney. The home was transferred to the couple from their family trust in 2007. The McKinneys’ trust had purchased the site for $3.2 million in 1999, records show. Donald McKinney is the CEO of Unbound Technologies, a technology firm.

The estate, which was previously listed for the same price in 2012, is next door to former Miami Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga’s home.

Yet the owners are no longer using the property, Sorrentino told TRD. “They own multiple homes and they are spending less and less time here,” she said.

According to Realtor.com, the next most expensive home currently on the market in Fort Lauderdale is listed for $25 million, at 1831 Southeast Ninth Street, also in the Rio Vista neighborhood.

“Year over year, sales of million dollar homes in Fort Lauderdale’s Rio Vista neighborhood are up an astounding 100 percent,” Stevick said in a statement. “Last year, between January and June, there were 13 residential sales. During the same period in 2015 we’ve already seen 26 closed sales.”
