Leasing has begun for a 1970’s-era office building that’s being renovated in Miami’s historic MiMo district.

The offices, at 5555 Biscayne Boulevard, are owned by Avra Jain and her partner Joe Del Vecchio. The two started renovations soon after purchasing the four-story building for $2.2 million in February last year. That included gutting and updating its interiors, putting in new floor-to-ceiling glass windows and installing six new balconies.

The building’s exterior will be completed in November, but the developers are holding off on the interiors until they sign tenants.

“There has been a tremendous demand for property and commercial spaces on Biscayne Boulevard as business owners and investors are realizing the allure and growth opportunities in the MiMo district,” said Jain, an investor and developer that has multiple projects in the area, in a release. “The MiMo Biscayne Boulevard Historic District is an evolving area filled with vast potential and appeal and I am thrilled to be part of its revival.

Metro 1, a brokerage headquartered in Wynwood, has been hired to lease out the building’s 23,164 square feet. Spaces range in size from 2,650 square feet to 17,100 square feet, according to the release.

“The Upper East Side is a strong and growing commercial and retail corridor,” Joseph Ortega of Metro 1 said in a statement, “and this building offers tremendous business opportunities.”
