The renovation of the Miami National Bank Building building (also known as the Langford building) in downtown Miami into the Langford Hotel will begin with a $6 million initial phase, according to construction firm Stambul USA, which is restoring the building. “Our initial plan calls for a $6 million investment before we are able to move on to the hotel´s design,” said Daniel Peña Giraldi, general manager of Stambul USA. “We know it is an incredible amount of work and a significant investment, but at Stambul are committed to Miami and we believe this project is important to the comeback of downtown and our community.” The 130-room hotel will be located at 121 SE 1st Street. — Alexander Britell
Developer Stambul USA is planning to convert the former Miami National Bank building in downtown Miami into a boutique 132-room hotel, the Miami Herald reported. The Langford Hotel, as it will be called, is reportedly slated for completion at the end of 2013. “I think that they can create a new area of focus for a lot of developers to try and essentially focus on that part of downtown that I think has really been neglected until now,” said Boaz Ashbel, managing director at the Aztec Group in Coconut Grove.
