Despite some economic woes, China continues to top the list of tallest skyscrapers set to be completed this year, with eight of the 10 entries on the list, according to SkyScraperCentral.
To find the remaining two you will need to look outside the U.S. and travel to the Middle East.

The tallest building to be completed in 2024 is 1,503 feet tall and 98 stories, and will serve as a combination hotel, office, residential, retail and entertainment space in Chongqing, China. Owned by China Vanke Co., the building’s much-delayed construction began five years ago, and finally topped out in 2022.
The 88-floor combination hotel, residential and office building rises 1,404 feet in Jinan, China, making it the tallest building in the Shandong Province. Greenland Group is the developer.
The 88-floor, 1,398-foot building — developed by Nanjing Financial City Construction Development — in Nanjing, China, will serve as hotel and office space. It was recently capped and will have a total gross floor area of about 4.6 million square feet, according to Xinhua.
The 80-floor, 1,342-foot skyscraper in Ningbo, China, will be a hotel, residential and office space. Developed by Greentown China Holdings Limited and Shanshan Group, the building’s completion date was pushed back due to delays in construction.
The first entry not located in China, the 77-floor, 1,292-foot building in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt, will serve as a hotel, office and residential space. Though yet to be finished, it’s already the tallest building in Africa. Its developer is Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities of Egypt.
Back to China, where this 60-story, 1,232-foot office building in Guangzhou is slated to be completed this year. It will be the fourth-tallest building in the city when completed. AVIC International is the owner.
Another Chinese office skyscraper, the 67-story, 1,214-foot building (part of a complex of skyscrapers) will be Shanghai’s fourth-tallest building when completed. Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited is the developer.
Construction on the 1,175-foot, 77-story Greenland Group Suzhou Center began nearly 10 years ago. When finished, it will rank as the 34th-tallest building in China. Greenland Group is the developer.
The only other building not in China, and the only entry in Europe, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey is 59-stories and 1,155 feet tall. The skyscraper, which will serve primarily as office space, will be the tallest building in Europe when completed. Limak is the developer.
Construction began in 2019 on the 71-story, 1,112-foot Junkang Center in Wenzhou, China. When completed, the office building will be the tallest in Wenzhou. Developed by Shanghai Construction Group.
