The Real Deal joined top news outlets at the National Association of Real Estate Editors conference this week, scooping up 10 awards across different categories for its coverage of the real estate industry.

Once again, TRD snagged top honors, winning gold medals for Best Website, Best Residential Real Estate Magazine and Best Commercial Real Estate Magazine.

Individual TRD team members were also recognized by the judges for their outstanding coverage. Senior reporter and politics editor Kathryn Brenzel grabbed a gold medal Residential Trade B2B Story for her feature on Fortis’ “leaning tower of FiDi” — a half-built skyscraper at 161 Maiden Lane that’s been plagued by planning and construction blunders.

Reporter Sheridan Wall received a silver medal in the same category for her story on the expiration of New York’s co-op ground leases, which threatens owners in one of the city’s most treasured asset classes. And former TRD staffer Harrison Connery scooped up bronze in the category for his story on brokerage Compass’ alleged material weaknesses in its books two years after going public.

Meanwhile, South Florida reporter Lidia Dinkova was awarded a silver medal for Best Commercial Collection for uncovering the real story behind the South Florida office market – including the overblown “Silicon Valley of the South” narrative, the dropoff in leasing by financial firms, and the soaring availability of office subleases.

South Florida senior reporter and residential bureau chief Katherine Kallergis picked up a bronze award for her e-newsletter, The Weekly Dirt, where she breaks down the most important stories in the South Florida market. Senior reporter and investigations editor Keith Larsen also grabbed a bronze medal for Best Economic Analysis for his story on the difficulty pricing real estate amid a deal shortage. And Wall and Connery also snagged a bronze for Best Team Report for their story “Black and white: A tale of two Hamptons brokers.”
