What seemed like an ordinary attempt to show a home in a quiet Virginia neighborhood took a bizarre turn when a family of five allegedly occupied the residence without permission, prompting law enforcement to intervene.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office released details of the incident, which unfolded on Tuesday morning, July 9, in a neighborhood north of Stafford — about 65 miles from Richmond, the Charlotte Observer reported. According to officials, the homeowner arrived at the property to an unexpected sight: a man and four children inside the house. Despite demands from the homeowner and subsequent orders from deputies to vacate the premises, the individuals wouldn’t budge.
“The victim advised he arrived at his residence to discover a man and four children inside,” the sheriff’s office stated. “When deputies arrived, they would observe the five uninvited guests still within the residence. Deputies requested the suspect to step out, but instead he would just stare out the window at them.”
Law enforcement officials had to forcefully enter the property and apprehend the 39-year-old suspect, Napoleon Boakye. It was then revealed that the suspect had attended an open house at the property just two days prior, where he had expressed interest in buying the home.
“Apparently, the suspect liked the house … While Boayke wanted to move to Onville Road, he instead would be moving into Rappahannock Regional Jail.” the sheriff’s office quipped in its statement,
Boakye initially provided a false identity to deputies, who later discovered he was on probation and had outstanding warrants in neighboring counties. As a result, he faces multiple charges, including entering a property with intent to damage, identity theft, providing a false identity to law enforcement, destruction of property and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The children found at the scene were taken into custody by Child Protective Services and later released to a responsible family member.
