Sheraton Hotels heiress lists historic New Hampshire estate

Mitzi Perdue looking to sell 104-acre property for $15M

Sheraton Hotels Heiress Lists Historic New Hampshire Estate

The heiress to two lavish fortunes is poised to part ways with an equally opulent estate in New Hampshire.

Mitzi Perdue listed the property known as Knollwood in Dublin for $15 million, the Wall Street Journal reported. A sale at that price wouldn’t represent a record in the state — that $25 million benchmark was established two years ago — but would still serve as one of the more expensive luxury sales in memory.

The 104-acre estate at the base of Mount Monadnock has been in the same family for about 70 years. Mitzi, 84, remembers summering there as a child. The home was built for former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Franklin MacVeagh around 1900 and was sold to Mitzi’s father in 1953 for $10,000.

The main home features 13 bedrooms and spans 14,500 square feet; the listing breaks down to $1,034 per square foot. The Georgian house has a ballroom, original hardwood floors and bathtubs and a 26-seat dining room. The larger property also has a historic barn and a three-car garage with a studio apartment, a pond, fruit trees and a vineyard with grapes used to make wine.

Mitzi is the daughter of Sheraton Hotels co-founder Ernest Henderson, as well as the widow of Perdue Chicken’s Frank Perdue. She is also a journalist and co-founded Mental Health Global, which provides services to Ukrainian refugees; proceeds from her share of the Knollwood sale will go towards the organization.

Mitzi and other family members decided to part with the estate after the death of her sister, Augusta Petrone, who was the main occupant of the home.

Compass’ Sean Bakhtiari has the listing alongside Colby Coppage.

In July, the median sale price in Cheshire County was $395,000. There’s never been a sale in the area above $4 million, according to Bakhtiari.
