Two NFL defensive ends left a mark on Atlanta’s luxury housing market.
An LLC formed by San Francisco 49ers defensive end Leonard Floyd paid $4.9 million for the 13,500-square-foot mansion at 1185 Mount Paran Road Northwest, in Atlanta’s Buckhead area, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported. The price comes to roughly $363 per square foot.
The seller was Darnell Dockett, who earned three pro-bowl nods during his 11-year career with the Arizona Cardinals, from 2004 to 2015. Dockett bought the house for $4.5 million, $333 per square foot, in 2021.
Engel & Volkers Atlanta agent Cynthia Walker represented the seller, while Stephanie McCarthy of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International represented the buyer.
The Buckhead district, about 10 miles north of downtown Atlanta, is the backbone of the city’s luxury housing market. In March, a 17,000-square-foot estate in Bucktown’s tuxedo park neighborhood sold for $19.8 million, about $1,165 per square foot, setting a record for most expensive home in Atlanta. The previous record, set in 2021, was $18.1 million.
A 15,000-square-foot mansion in the neighborhood sold for $8.6 million in January, $573 per square foot, topping Bucktown home sales last year.
The 30327 ZIP code, where the recently-sold home is located, has seen 22 home sales with a median price of approximately $1.8 million so far this month, the outlet reported.
Floyd’s mansion, situated on a 1.3-acre gated corner lot, features seven bedrooms, ten bathrooms, a two-story foyer with a silver leaf dome, and a large kitchen with two islands and top-tier appliances. Additional features include a finished basement and a four-car garage.
The estate also has a one-bedroom, two-story guest house. The kitchen opens to a backyard with a heated saltwater pool, spa and putting green. The brick pool cabana is equipped with an outdoor kitchen, dining area, heaters, high ceilings, fans and a TV lounge area. The property includes a basketball court, as well.
Dockett grew up in Atlanta before attending Florida State University. Floyd is also a Georgia native and played for the University of Georgia from 2013 to 2015.
