Major Atlanta office landlord CP Group has scooped a Goldman Sachs banker to lead its Southeast acquisitions as the firm plans to grow its footprint.

Manzoor, who will be based in Atlanta, was a vice president in Goldman Sachs’ investment banking division. He spent four years there and executed more than $10 billion in mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions. He also worked as an associate at Deutsche Bank’s investment banking division. Manzoor has a degree in biochemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology and a master’s in business administration from Cornell University.

CP Group’s Chris Eachus said Manzoor’s background in investment banking will bolster the firm’s “ability to identify, assess and pursue strategic development opportunities.” Manzoor said.

Since its founding in 1986, CP Group has purchased and managed more than 170 properties valued at almost $8 billion. It primarily focuses on markets in the Southeast but also owns property in Houston and in and around Washington, D.C., according to its website.

CP Group is the developer behind the renovation of the former CNN Center downtown. It is rebranding the 1.2 million-square-foot property as “the Center” and plans to transform it into “a hub of world-class retail, dining, content creation and entertainment.”

The firm also recently landed lease deals at Bank of America Plaza to law firm Ogletree Deakins and Eversheds Sutherland. Ogletree Deakins, which specializes in labor and employment law, is leasing 24,000 square feet. It is relocating from 191 Peachtree in downtown. Eversheds Sutherland is moving from 999 Peachtree in Midtown. It signed a deal to occupy 94,000 square feet.
