Not a month went by without a home sale exceeding $3 million in Mecklenburg County this year.
The most-expensive home sale reported so far this year was a home that fronts Lake Norman, in the 17800 block of Largo Place, which sold for $7.67 million on Dec. 5, the Charlotte Business Journal reported. It was the most-expensive MLS-listed home ever sold in Charlotte. An Eastover mansion that was not listed sold for $9.2 million in 2021, the outlet said.
A home in Cornelius, about 20 miles north of Charlotte, sold for $3.78 million in September, and homes in Cornelius and Charlotte’s Eastover neighborhood sold for $4.5 million in February.
Otherwise, the priciest homes exceeded $5 million for 10 months of the year.

An LLC tied to Sonic Automotive CEO David Smith purchased this mansion on the Quail Hollow golf course for about $661 per square foot from former U.S. Rep. Robert Pittenger. It spans 11,500 square feet and has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and three half-baths. Built in 2009, it sits on a 1-acre lot.
Linwood Bolles and Valérie Dulude of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer and seller.

17200 block of Connor Quay Court
This 12,000-square-foot home on Lake Norman was featured in the 2006 spoof Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, and it was purchased by a retired NASCAR driver, the outlet reported.
Kevin Harvick and his wife, DeLana, purchased the home for under $563 per square foot, and about 32 percent less than the original asking price of $9.9 million.

This 5,000-square-foot home in Charlotte’s Myers Park neighborhood sold for about $756 per square foot. The home was built in 1928 and sits on a half-acre lot. The identities of the buyer and seller weren’t reported.

This home set a record for the most-expensive home sold in Davidson, about 20 miles north of Charlotte on Lake Norman. The price works out to almost $930 per square foot. The home was built in 2020, spans 7,600 square feet and sits on 15 acres. The buyer and seller weren’t identified.

This home on Lake Norman sold for over $1,176 per square foot. Ben Bowen of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing, and he said it was the most expensive price per square foot for a house on Lake Norman. The buyer and seller weren’t identified.

500 block of Brackenbury Lane
This was one of two homes in Mecklenburg County that sold for over $5 million in June, the outlet reported. The 7,500-square-foot home in Highland Forest was built by Kingswood Custom Homes in 2019, and it sold for $700 per square foot.
