Ballantyne is boss for Northwood Office.

The local firm’s Ballantyne Corporate Park has secured office leases, renewals and expansions totaling 573,000 square feet so far this year, the Charlotte Business Journal reported. The 4.5 million-square-foot office complex, at 13024 Ballantyne Corporate Place, consists of 41 buildings.

Northwood is underway with a $1 billion-plus retail and multifamily development push called Ballantyne Reimagined.

The office leases included Lennar Carolinas’ 27,900 square feet at the Calhoun Building, Allen Lund Company’s 15,800 square feet at the Crawford Building, Waste Connections’ 12,600 square feet at Overlook, and American Engineering’s 10,850 square feet lease at the Everett Building.

Health insurance group purchasing organization Premier extended its 146,000-square-foot lease at the Betsill Building, where it has operated since 2011. CrossCountry Mortgage also doubled its footprint to 16,000 square feet in the Harris Building.

The transactions were brokered by Kate Urey, Mary McClure, Elizabeth Newman and Isabel Windham on behalf of Northwood. External representation included brokers from CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield, JLL, New South Properties and Lincoln Property Company.

The office complex is 70 percent leased, and it is rich with amenities, which has been key to attracting tenants, said Kate Urey, Northwood’s senior vice president of leasing and development.

The developer delivered The Bowl at Ballantyne, a 70,000-square-foot dining and retail district in the spring, and several restaurants have opened since then. Plans also include 350 upscale apartments, which are under construction.

Already opened are Stream Park and The Amp Ballantyne outdoor music venue.

What’s next? The first Wegmans grocery store in Charlotte is expected to open at Ballantyne in 2026.
