The world’s largest bicycle manufacturer is moving its U.S. headquarters to Boulder.
Giant Group U.S.A., the American subsidiary of Taiwan-based Giant Group Manufacturing, signed a 10-year lease for 44,000 square feet at 3825 Walnut Street, the Denver Business Journal reported. The building is owned by Boulder-based Conscience Bay, according to tax assessor records.
Giant’s headquarters will take up almost half of the 100,000-square-foot building, which Conscience Bay previously planned to redevelop into a life sciences campus.
Giant Group U.S.A. will move from Newbury Park in Southern California to the Denver area. The company plans to move next year, following a nine-month renovation. The building is almost entirely a warehouse with roughly 16,000 square feet of office space.
Layne McBride of the Colorado Group represented Giant in the deal.
Boulder is a top cycling hub in the United States, with over 300 miles of bikeways and 100 pedestrian underpasses that avoid vehicular traffic intersections. It’s also a training ground for professional cyclists and triathletes.
Giant is working with an architect to design its headquarters, which will include retail space, a showroom and office space.
The relocation deepens Giant’s foothold in Boulder after its subsidiary SPIA Cycling acquired Stages Cycling out of bankruptcy in 2024. Foundation Fitness, Stages’ parent company, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last summer before Giant stepped in to buy its assets. Stages is expected to vacate its headquarters at 5335 Sterling Drive and fold operations into Giant’s Walnut Street base. The 22,000-square-foot Sterling Drive property is being marketed for sale for $5.5 million.
Giant previously estimated the headquarters move could eventually bring about 125 jobs to Boulder, though staffing is planned to ramp up gradually as the company grows into the space.
