A piece of Nashville entertainment legacy is heading to auction next month with a starting bid of $1 million.
Interluxe Auctions, in partnership with Compass’ Stephen Brush, will oversee the Feb. 3 auction of Music Loft, a 2,475-square-foot property at 219 Second Avenue North, the Nashville Business Journal reported.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom loft is on the second level of the historic Market Street Building. Since its completion in 1899, the loft has functioned as a private residence, an event venue and a short-term rental. Its standout features include floor-to-ceiling windows and a performance stage.
The Music Loft is well-known for hosting country music legends such as Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Reba McEntire and Lainey Wilson.
JHR Music Loft acquired the unit for $1.75 million in 2018. This breaks down to a sale price of $707 per square foot. The company had previously listed it for $3.2 million before deciding to sell it at auction. The original listing price equated to $1,292 per square foot.
The Second Avenue loft is situated at the heart of a major redevelopment effort in downtown Nashville. The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency recently reopened part of Second Avenue to traffic after extensive repairs following the 2020 Christmas Day bombing. Work continues on the final section requiring reconstruction.
Another Second Avenue property, a historic office building at 217 Second Avenue North will also go up for auction on January 29. The starting bids for the building, which spans between Commerce Street and Broadway, are expected to range from $3 million to $6 million.
