In the vein of Comcast spinning off a portion of the company into a separate venture, Versant, its chief executive officer’s former condo is also being split.
The Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia is turning Brian Roberts’ previous home into a floor of suites, the Philadelphia Business Journal reported. As a result, the Center City hotel — owned by Comcast — will expand from 219 to 227 keys.
Roberts and his wife purchased three condominium units on the 45th floor of the property in 2016 for a combined $14.4 million. They then turned the trio of units into one.
Roberts sold the single unit to Comcast in April 2021 for $13.5 million, a $900,000 loss before considering renovation costs.
When the Four Seasons’ renovation of the floor is complete, half of the rooms will be standard for the hotel. Two of the rooms, though, will be larger one-bedroom suites.
Then, there will be the two-bedroom Sky Terrace Suite and the two-bedroom Sky Terrace Penthouse, extended-stay residences that will span 1,500 and 4,000 square feet, respectively. Guests of the two suites will have access to private outdoor space, a kitchen and a washer and dryer in-suite. The penthouse will have its own gym and a wine cellar.
Guests across the floor will also have access to in-suite services and a spa treatment room. London-based interior design firm 1508 London is creating the suites.
Pricing for the rooms has not been made available, but reservations are expected to open over the summer. The Sky Garden floor will debut at the end of the year, ahead of what could be an influx of tourists due to next year’s FIFA World Cup and the United States’ 250th birthday celebration.
Other guest rooms atop the Comcast Technology Center span from the 48th to 56th floors.
