  • A penthouse in Seattle, known for inspiring the "Fifty Shades of Grey" books, is for sale for $11.5 million.
  • Despite the books' depiction, the real penthouse does not have a "Red Room of Pain" or the exact layout described.
  • The 5,170-square-foot penthouse has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains, and four parking spots.

There’s no “Red Room of Pain” in the Downtown Seattle penthouse that inspired Christian Grey’s make-believe erotic pad in “Fifty Shades of Grey,” now listed for $11.5 million.

But there is a shore-to-mountain view to take the edge off the notoriety for any prospective owner of the 5,170-square-foot condominium at the Escala building at 1920 4th Avenue, Unit PH101, McClatchy News reported.

The Escala and its 30th-floor luxury penthouse won international fame in the steamy series by E.L. James set in the Pacific Northwest city.

In the “Fifty Shades of Grey” books, the home included a private elevator, piano, a “Red Room of Pain” (soundproof room) and a rooftop terrace.

The real-life residence, built in 2010, has none of those, but the sleek glass building did star in the romantic trilogy.

“For the Fifty Shades movies, Escala’s exterior was used for establishing shots, but the penthouse interior was filmed on a set,” according to a news release. “The real penthouses in Escala don’t have Christian Grey’s exact layout, the ‘Red Room,’ or some of the ultra-high-tech features seen in the books.”

The three-bedroom, four-bathroom penthouse, remodelled by NB Design Group, has 180-degree views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains.

The lofty home has plaster relief walls, handmade Moroccan tiles, hardwood floors and a hidden butler’s pantry. There’s a balcony for romantic toasts. And four parking spots for luxury cars.

The Escala has a 24-hour concierge, gym, two swim spas, an owners’ lounge and locker storage, according to the listing. Homeowner Association fees are $5,322 a month.

Broker Phil Greely of The Agency Seattle holds the listing.
