One of Texas’ most prolific homebuilders is gearing up for its first project outside of the Lone Star State with a push into the Sunshine State.

Houston-based Perry Homes plans to add residences to GreenPointe Developers’ Southern Hills community in Brooksville, a northern suburb of Tampa Bay, the Houston Chronicle reported

Perry Homes, founded in 1967, is expanding into a Florida market that’s seen rapid population growth. Perry Homes’ Chris Little sees similarities between Florida and Texas’ residential markets.

“(Florida has) many of the things that have helped Texas be so steady and successful in residential home building for years,” Little told the outlet. “You pair that with the great lifestyle and climate, a great business friendly state, and a stable political environment — it starts to really mirror many of the positive attributes that Texas offers.”

Furthermore,  Eisenhower Property Group tapped Perry to build homes at the Berry Bay community, south of Tampa, in summer 2025.

It’s unclear how many homes Perry aims to build in Florida, but the forthcoming projects are expected to provide “ample opportunities for years to come.” The company could also expand to Southwest Florida and Jacksonville, Little said.

Perry reports sales of nearly 4,000 homes in 2023, raking in more than $2 billion in revenue.

The company has taken part in various large-scale developments across the Houston metro, including the 2,000-acre Sunterra community in Katy and a 740-acre master-planned community near The Woodlands.

In addition, Perry is contributing to the 3,200-acre Easton Park development in Southeast Austin.
