Ex-Washington Commanders owner relists massive estate for $10M off

Dan Snyder now seeking $50M for Virginia property

Former Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder is again looking to pare down his real estate portfolio with one massive trade.

Dan and Tanya Snyder relisted their River View estate in Alexandria, Virginia, for $49.9 million, the Washington Business Journal reported. The listing represents a $10 million price cut from June 2024, when the couple first put the home on the market for $60 million.

The 16-and-a-half-acre property at 7979 East Boulevard Drive comes with a 16,000-square-foot main house. Considering only the main house, the listing breaks down to $3,119 per square foot.

The four-story main house includes eight bedrooms and more than nine bathrooms. The home also has a library, game room, home office, fitness center and spa, a 15-seat home theater, a wine cellar and a three-car attached garage.

The grounds have a three-bedroom, three-bathroom guest house spanning 2,600 square feet, as well as a carriage house, a private dock and a boxwood garden; the home includes 400 feet of frontage on the Potomac River.

The Snyders acquired the estate from former Lockheed Martin chair Robert Stevens in October 2021 for $48 million. That deal remains the most expensive residential sale in the history of the Washington, D.C. area.

Michael Sobhi of The Sobhi Group has the listing, a broker change from the original marketing. Sobhi called the price cut a “decisive pricing adjustment.”

The Snyders have been pulling out of the nation’s capital since selling their football team in 2023 for more than $6 billion.

The couple previously owned a 15-acre estate at 11900 River Road in Potomac, Maryland. After listing the property in February 2023 for $49 million, they later donated it to the American Cancer Society.

They purchased the estate from Jordan’s King Hussein and Queen Noor for $8.6 million in July 2000 before buying and adding six additional parcels.

The ACS ultimately auctioned the property off last year for $13.3 million.
