Stadium gaining Council support

As of the latest count, 23 of the City Council’s 51 members back a $1.9 billion Jets stadium proposed for the far West Side, and those involved with the football team believe they will secure a majority of the Council in coming weeks, according to The Daily News. At the same time, some of those supportive members also would vote to pass a law blocking Mayor Michael Bloomberg from diverting $300 million in PILOTs (or payments in lieu of taxes) into the stadium.
