Schumer derides Downtown’s slow growth

Citing the sluggishness of the rebuilding effort in Lower Manhattan and lack of commercial enthusiasm for the area, Senator Charles E. Schumer has said he will recommend that money earmarked for a proposed downtown rail link to Kennedy Airport be diverted to other projects if plans for the link are not final by next year. Also, he warned that the Freedom Tower must be built as soon as possible, or Downtown would languish. more [NYT]
