The Real Deal attended a forum on the 30th floor of the Reuters building on Wednesday night sponsored by the Times Square Alliance, a nonprofit group that works to bolster the livability of the Crossroads of the World. The forum was part of an ongoing attempt by the alliance to make Times Square more pedestrian friendly and more aesthetically pleasing. One way to accomplish these goals, the alliance presentation suggested, was to encourage real estate of “higher quality design… like the New 42nd Street Studios.” Forum attendee Patricia Brown, CEO of the Central London Partnership, which has tried to revamp that city’s nexus to make it also more pedestrian-friendly and architecturally pleasing, praised New York’s efforts so far in improving Times Square: “What you’ve achieved here is the stuff of dinner party conversations in London.”more [Newsday]
