After an international search, the Empire State Development Corporation announced Thursday afternoon that a team led by Richard Rogers Partnership, and including FXFowle Architects and A. Epstein and Sons International, has been selected as the architect on the expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on the far West Side. The expansion will increase the Javits Center’s meeting and exhibition space from about 790,000 square feet to more than 1.3 million, and add about $53 million in combined annual tax revenue for the city and the state, according to a release from the development corporation. Some of Richard Rogers’ most well-known architecture includes the headquarters of Lloyd’s of London, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, and the Millennium Dome in London.
