Trim home mortgage deductions? Uh-oh.

The suggestion by President Bush’s advisory panel on tax reform that home mortgage deductions should be curtailed has sent rumblings of discontent rolling across parts of the housing industry. The suggestion, announced Tuesday by the panel, would include significantly trimming the popular deduction as well as eliminating state and local tax deductions, all in the name of simplifying the income tax. more [NYT]
