A 26-story New York University dorm on East 12th Street could be delayed because of a deed restriction prohibiting future residents from offering advice on family planning or getting abortions, or pinning up posters to that effect. The reason? The dorm is scheduled to be built on the site of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, and the deed signed in December 2004 by the church and the developer, Hudson Companies, contains several restrictions on the site’s use, including the ban on birth control counseling. more [Sun]
