The popularity of rare market-rate rentals on Roosevelt Island continues to grow. The Octagon, a converted tower from the defunct New York Lunatic Asylum, will open as high-end rentals ranging from $1,400 a month for studios to $4,100 for three-bedrooms. Twenty-one tenants so far have reportedly been lured by amenities like day care and tennis courts not to mention the minutes-long commute to Manhattan. more [New York]
