Bill would require public hearings on landmarks

The City Council is mulling a bill that would require the Landmarks Preservation Commission to hold a hearing on any site listed or determined to be eligible for listing on the state’s register of historic places. The bill would also give the council, through a majority vote, the power to direct the LPC to schedule a hearing on a building within 60 days.
