Record buy inked for air rights

A deal has been inked that sets a city record for the purchase of air rights. Zeckendorf Realty has offered to pay the owners of the Grolier Book Club at 47 East 60th Street and the Christ Methodist Church at the northeast corner of Park and 60th Street $430 a square foot for those buildings’ air rights, according to Bob Van Ancken, an appraiser with Grubb & Ellis who handled the deal for the six-story book club. Zeckendorf plans a 50-story condo at 518 Park Avenue, the site now of three six-story buildings that Zeckendorf owns and plans to demolish.
