Egbertville offers cheap(er) housing, forests

You can be forgiven if you’re even a longtime New Yorker and you’ve never heard of Egbertville, Staten Island. It’s tucked two-thirds down the island from the ferry stop and tiny as well as heavily forested (by city standards, anyway). Egbertville is also almost entirely residential, full of detached houses, with few options for rentals. So, non-residents have little reason to visit unless, perhaps, if they crave a deal on city housing. Single-family houses there, complete with bucolic surroundings, start at $450,000. more [Voice]
