Borough Hall in Brooklyn is mimicking the Empire State Building. Starting this month, the hall will light up in colors that reflect particular holidays or events, such as red and green for Christmas, and blue and white for Hanukkah. The lights on the 19th-century hall are part of a renovation begun in 2004, and they involve 67 floodlights using light-emitting diodes programmed by computer a decidedly more high-tech technique than that used by the Empire State Building. more [NYT]
