Senate confirms Bernanke as Fed chairman

The U.S. Senate today confirmed Ben Bernanke as chairman of the Federal Reserve. A private swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday morning. A former Princeton economics professor, Bernanke was the head of President Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers.
