Talks over World Trade Center site break down

Talks broke down again Thursday over the fate of redevelopment at the World Trade Center site. The Pataki administration had hoped to present the board of the Port Authority, which owns the site, with a new redevelopment proposal at the board’s Thursday meeting. But the administration could not reach an agreement with site leaseholder Larry Silverstein. more [NYT]
Meanwhile, state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, who represents part of Lower Manhattan, said Thursday the government is using Larry Silverstein as a scapegoat for its own failure to get the World Trade Center site redevelopment going in earnest. more [Post]
And New York state’s entire congressional delegation sent a letter to New Jersey Gov. John Corzine, telling him to get New Jersey out of the way of any redevelopment. more [Post]
