Helmsley buys stake in five buildings

Leona Helmsley has quietly paid as much as $100 million to Irving Schneider for his stake in five New York buildings. The move could lead Helmsley’s longtime partners, the Malkin family, to boot Schneider out of operations at the Empire State Building.
