One of the plans being considered for the redevelopment of the West Side’s Pier 40 won’t pencil out, according to an analysis by a consultant the Hudson River Park Trust hired. The plan–which has been dubbed “The People’s Pier”–has been submitted by the Camp Group and mostly calls for the construction of recreational facilities. The competing development being considered for the site was submitted by the Related Companies; Related’s plans, which include the construction of a permanent venue for Cirque de Soleil, have been called “Vegas on the Hudson” by critics.
