A day after British mega-retailer Topshop was reported to be scouting six locations in three neighborhoods in Manhattan, the billionaire chairman of the company has denied some of the reports circulating. Faith Hope Consolo, head of Prudential Douglas Elliman’s retail leasing and sales division, said the company has been looking at 600 Madison Avenue in Midtown; is “wavering” between two Meatpacking District locations on 14th Street “near the new Apple store”; and has put out feelers for three Soho spaces on lower Broadway. But Topshop’s owner, tycoon Sir Philip Green, told The Real Deal today that the company “never had any discussions concerning 600 Madison Avenue and sites in the Meatpacking District.” The giant retailer, which unveiled a Kate Moss-branded clothing line at Barneys’ New York flagship last week, is expected to enter the Manhattan market soon with store locations. Green declined to specify where Topshop is looking for space. TRD
